Soaring High: A Special International Women’s Day Paragliding Event in Ohrid

This past Saturday, March 7th, 2026, we celebrated International Women’s Day in the most exhilarating way possible—from the skies! Tandem Paragliding Ohrid – Fly Ohrid hosted a spectacular day of flights, offering our guests a unique perspective on the “Pearl of the Balkans.”

An International Celebration Above Lake Ohrid

The spirit of the day was truly global. We were honored to welcome adventure-seekers from all corners of the world, including passengers from Germany, Spain, and India. The journey began with a rugged 4×4 drive in our Land Rover Discovery, transporting our guests through the scenic trails to our takeoff point. It was a privilege to share the Macedonian skies with such a diverse group of travelers, all united by the thrill of flight and the beauty of the region.

Astonishing Views of Galicica Mountain and the Lake

As we launched from the slopes of the majestic Galicica Mountain, our passengers were treated to breathtaking panoramas. The deep blue of Lake Ohrid stretched to the horizon, meeting the snowy rugged peaks of the National Park. Under a clear blue sky, the conditions were perfect for a smooth, “astonishing” glide over the landscape.

A Bird’s-Eye View of the UNESCO Old Town

One of the true highlights of the flight is the approach over the Old Town of Ohrid. From high above, the red-tiled roofs and ancient churches of this UNESCO World Heritage site look like a living museum. Our passengers enjoyed incredible, unobstructed views of the historical fortress, the lakeside promenade, and the winding cobblestone streets that make this city so iconic.
